Shockwave Therapy | Myofascial Acoustic Compression Therapy

By August 28, 2019Uncategorized

Myofascial Acoustic Compression Therapy(MyACT), also known as Shockwave Therapy

At Simon Spine, we take pride in providing effective treatments for athletes with chronic pain and repetitive stress injuries.

Shockwave Therapy is a multidisciplinary device used in chiropractic, orthopedics, physiotherapy and sports medicine. Its main benefits are fast pain relief and mobility restoration.

Shockwave therapy is the ideal option for treating chronic pain and injuries because it speeds up the recovery process and can cure various symptoms without any invasive surgeries.

Myofascial Acoustic Compression Therapy is widely used in the treatment of acute and chronic pain in muscles, tendons, and joints.  MyACT uses acoustic waves to target tissues at varying depths by compressing and manipulating the tissue, resulting in a focused, precise, deep tissue massage.  The results of the mechanical stimuli delivered by MyACT can lead to improved circulation and pain relief – key components in the healing process.

WHY IS IT SO EFFECTIVE?

SHOCKWAVE THERAPY can REACH AREAS that manual therapy, dry needling, and passive methods can not reach or do not have a significant effect on!

SHOCKWAVE THERAPY SEQUENCE

Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment. The application process is simple and easy. Therapy is initiated in three steps:

1.

Locate The Area To Be Treated

The area to be treated is located using palpation in order to deliver the therapy precisely.

2.

Apply The Gel.

A sufficient amount of gel is applied to the area located in step one. The use of gel is necessary to transfer the acoustic waves efficiently and smoothly.

3.

Initiation Therapy

The Shockwave applicator is slightly pushed against the pain points treated.

THE AMAZING MEDICAL EFFECTS

Acoustic waves with high energy peak used in Shockwave therapy interact with tissue causing overall medical effects of accelerated tissue repair and cell growth, analgesia and mobility restoration.

All the processes mentioned in this section are typically employed simultaneously and are used to treat chronic, sub-acute, and acute conditions.

Piezoceramic crystals are arranged in a mosaic pattern on a concave transducer.  A high voltage current briefly excites the piezo crystals, causing them to expand simultaneously a few micrometers along their axis to create a pressure wave.

The piezo elements are aligned precisely to the therapy focus.  The precise focused and nonlinear dissemination on the pulse results in steepening at the point of focus, creating an area of high pressure.  Treatment is quiet and virtually pain-free, and the technology allows the intensity levels to be freely adjusted with almost no impact on focal size.
